1. Palacio Marques De Fronteira
Built in 1675, the Palacio Marques de Frontera is among the most beautiful palaces in all of Lisbon and it was originally intended to be a hunting lodge, which belonged to Don João Mascarenhas.
Remarkably, the Marques family still resides in the palace today. Located in Lisbon’s Benfica neighborhood, azulejos with an Italian Renaissance-style garden effortlessly transport visitors to an oasis of Arab and Moorish influence while they marvel at their pure artistic brilliance.
This unique place is one of the most fascinating locations to see in Lisbon while travelling. You can pay to explore the grounds or have a tour of the palace upon request, it’s quite amazing!

2. Panoramico De Monsanto
The Panoramico De Monsanto, often known as the “UFO of Lisbon,” was formerly a luxurious restaurant that had closed its doors in the 1960s. Some claim that the restaurant’s eventual downfall was caused by the fact that it was too costly for the locals.
Five stories formerly made up the restaurant, which featured a 360-degree panoramic view of the city, an idea belonging to Chaves Costa. But it was only a restaurant for two years before becoming a municipal viewpoint. In addition, it has developed into the city’s center of the arts and culture, hosting numerous events.
Even though the building is now covered with graffiti, especially after dusk, it’s still one of the greatest spots to take in a 360-degree panorama of Lisbon. It’s definitely a must see on you bucket list!

3. Church of Santa Engracia
The Church of Santa Engracia has been around since the sixteenth century, taking on different shapes. Over the ages, structural failures and financial difficulties have caused it to change shape and go dormant, but even a curse couldn’t prevent it from rising once again to become the revered National Pantheon, where the most illustrious Portuguese are buried.
One of the richest ladies in Europe, Maria of Portugal, the sole daughter of King Manuel I of Portugal, funded the building of a church honoring Saint Engracia somewhere in the 1568s. It quickly developed into the spiritual hub of the Brotherhood of the Slaves of the Holy Sacrament, a strong religious group. It’s an experience well worth it.

4. Bordallo Pinheiro Garden
This garden is unique among others because of the large number of porcelain plants and animals. Here you will find huge porcelain sculptures by Portuguese artist Rafael Bordallo Pinheiro from the 19th century, featuring a variety of creatures, mushrooms, snakes and crabs. The garden itself is just as beautiful, featuring geometric hedge designs, a Japanese acacia that stands out amid the other trees and live peacocks strolling around.
One of the oldest towns in Europe and the capital of Portugal, Lisbon, provides visitors with a fascinating fusion of culture, history and important landmarks.

5. History of Lisbon Mural
Though most visitors come here to take in the magnificent view of red roofs and cathedrals stretching into the distance towards the Tagus River below and the mountains beyond, you might be tempted to walk on past the staircase that twists its way down the side of this lovely overlook on the Lisbon coast.
However, if you take the time to follow the directions to the public restroom, you’ll only go a short distance down the steps before you come upon a little tunnel whose curved archway is covered on both sides with muralist Nuno Saraiva’s comic strip-style depiction of Lisbon’s history.

Live the most unique experiences in Lisbon with your family and friends, always relying on Lisbon Airport Transfers, for high quality and outstanding taxi services, for marvelous adventures and unforgettable memories!

1. São Jorge Castle
São Jorge Castle, perched atop the tallest of Lisbon’s seven hills, is the most popular tourist destination in the city and, if not because of the structure per se, then probably because of its location, which affords the greatest views of both Lisbon and the River Tejo.
It stands where a former tenth-century Moorish stronghold had stood. The first king of Portugal, Dom Afonso Henriques, commanded a group of crusaders who took control of the castle in 1147. Portugal’s first king is honored within the walls with a metal statue resting atop a cylindrical stone plinth, or statue base.

2. The famous tram
One of the greatest methods to see Lisbon’s traditional neighborhoods, historic district and old city is via Tram 28.
It takes around an hour to travel from Martim Moniz to Campo de Ourique / Prazeres. The tram is a very well-liked tourist attraction, but people also utilize it as their primary mode of transportation. You should probably anticipate standing the entire ride and huge lines.
Go early in the morning or evening to avoid the crowds, or select less popular stops like Graça (Campo de Ourique – Prazeres direction) or Basílica da Estrela (Martim Moniz direction) to catch the bus.

3. Lisbon Market
A well-liked food hall in the Cais do Sodré area is called Time Out Market. It’s the perfect place to unwind and mingle with friends and family because it has a ton of bars and cafes. It is well-known for its excellent food and beverages, which are served by some of the most well-known chefs and restaurateurs in the city.
Time Out Market Lisbon offers a wide variety of dishes created with fresh, locally sourced ingredients, ranging from traditional Portuguese cuisine to international delicacies. Time Out Market Lisbon’s lively environment, which frequently features live music and entertainment throughout the week, is one of its best features.
To further enhance its charm and character, the market is housed in a historic building that was formerly a city market.

4. Terreiro do Paço
Praça do Comércio in Lisbon is a classic square! One of the largest squares in Europe, it’s more often known to locals as Terreiro do Paço because, before the 1755 earthquake, it was the site of the paço, or palace.
The focal point of Terreiro do Paço is an equestrian statue of King Dom José I, who, having survived the 1755 earthquake, appointed Marquês de Pombal to oversee the reconstruction of Lisbon.
Surrounding the monument, there are symmetrical, arcade-style structures from the seventeenth century! Can you imagine that? These days, ministries and other government offices are housed in the buildings, which were recently painted back to their former yellow color.

5. Ajuda National Palace
Lisbon’s Ajuda National Palace is among its most striking structures. Built as the main house of the royal family in the 19th century, this magnificent architectural marvel showcased a sumptuous blend of Neoclassical and Baroque styles.
You will learn a great deal about the way the royal lived as you explore its halls. Visitors can peruse opulently furnished rooms including beautiful chandeliers, intricate furnishings, and stunning tapestries. The palace is also home to an impressive collection of ornamental arts, sculptures, and paintings.
The majority of the upper floor is dedicated to state rooms, with a magnificent music room located on the ground floor.
The adjacent gardens offer a tranquil haven outside with exquisitely manicured lawns and picturesque vantage spots to admire the palace’s façade.

Discover and enjoy the most beautiful attractions in Lisbon with your friends and family, always relying on Lisbon Airport Transfers, which provide outstanding and high quality taxi services, while having the greatest moments and fun!

So you’ve made up your mind to visit the beautiful, sunny and pleasantly warm Portugal this summer. We are very happy to welcome you here, but before you go, we feel it would be even better to find out what’s up in Lisbon this August 2015.

The capital city of Lisbon, one of its most vivid cultural and economic hubs of Portugal, is a place where there’s always something going on, be it a concert, a fair or an international event. August is high season here, so expect lots of people, lots of events, but also lots of entertainment.

August seems to be the month of music in Lisbon. On August 2nd 2015, you are invited to attend the Piknic Electronik at Tapada da Ajuda, Lisboa. For an entry ticket of 12 EUR, you can dance to the electronic music of John Talabot, Marc Pinol, Mary B and JMII. Electronic music is not just about the rhythm: it is also about the social experience you can enjoy and about experimenting.

If you are visiting Lisbon towards the end of August, between the 20th and the 25th you can attend another unique event, with an accent on the traditional side: the International Folk Dance Festival Lisbon, where you can admire local music and dance in a festival sponsored by the Municipality.

On the third Sunday, every month (August being no exception) the Changing of the Guard and Charanga ceremony takes place in Belem, at the Garden of Viera Portuense. The 28 horsemen of the Cavalry will perform a wonderful ceremonial march to the delight of the audiences armed with cameras. Entry is free.

Begun in July, the Oceans Festival is perhaps the most important event of the summer, scheduled to last until August 13th 2015. Exhibitions, conferences, music and dance and amazing fireworks will all feature in the ultimate tribute to the sea life.

To travel around the region and the entire country, we suggest pre-booking a Lisbon airport transfer.

When in Portugal, visit Estoril! This suburb of Lisbon, the capital city of Portugal, is home to some of the greatest hotels, resorts, golf clubs, architecture and people. It’s a point on your list that you simply must check.

Let’s explore some more!

Estoril was already an inhabited city in the times of the Phoenicians and the Romans. When the Arabs came, the style of architecture and the local culture was enriched and later, after the Reconquista, it started to take the shape of the traditional European and Portuguese center it is today.

Algarve in southern Portugal is not the only place to enjoy the seaside. Estoril boasts with some of the greatest beaches around Lisbon. The gorgeous Tamariz Beach displays a picturesque scenery, surrounded by restaurants and bars and overlooking a castle owned by the Monaco royal family.

The Estoril Casino is also located nearby, hosting international events and serving as inspiration to writers, apparently! Ian Fleming apparently drew inspiration from the place for his “Casino Royale”.

Do you like sports? If you do, you will definitely feel at home in Estoril. Motorsports are the subject of international events here, at the Estoril Circuit. Moto GP and other contests happen here.

But what is more prominent in Portugal and in town is golf. Estoril Golf Club has hosted the Portuguese Open not once, not twice, but 20 times! It is an internationally acclaimed golf facility with a colorful, futuristic architecture set in an idyllic landscape, by the sea. The golf course is just 3 minutes away from the town center of Estoril and less than half an hour’s drive from Lisbon.

Estoril must be on your list and to make your stay even better, you can get a Lisbon airport transfer to Estoril or rent a car in Lisbon.

July is the month of all the twelve that, in Portugal at least, offers the full bloom and explosion of happiness, enthusiasm and verve, a display of color, sweet scent on the melancholy sounds of Fado music. So if you are planning to spend summer in the capital city of Portugal, thumbs up! And to know what’s in store for the coming weeks, here are the best Lisbon events to look forward to in July 2015.

Lisbon – and in fact the entire Portugal – lives with a mixed cultural heritage and with a glorious medieval and pre-modern history. For 2 weeks each year, Obidos takes a step back in time and celebrates a glamorous Medieval market. This walled town becomes the playground of knights, minstrels and damsels (in distress or not). This outdoor amazing market offers tourists and locals alike the possibility to purchase traditional foods and other product, handicrafts, but also the opportunity to visit the castle or to attend jousting tournaments.

If you live life on rock strings, Super Bock Super Rock held between July 5th and 7th 2015, will give you a perfect pretext to also visit the beautiful Sesimbra, near the wonderful golden Meco beach. Food can be found here and transport, but also camping opportunities.

To end the month of July, from the 30th day to August 13th 2015, you are invited to attend the Festival dos Oceanos, the Lisbon Ocean Festival, which attracts thousands of international visitors to the shores of Lisbon in a two-week event that features oceanic themes and activities, street performers, night visits to the museum and glorious displays of fireworks.

It is worth staying in this amazing city at least a few days to appreciate its feel and to travel in its surroundings. You can rent a car in Lisbon or book a Lisbon airport transfer online.

The coming of summer after a wait that seems to have taken the best of us is certainly something to celebrate, so you are warmly invited to put on your casual clothes and dancing shoes and join the Lisbon Festival in June 2015.

Lisbon city might look like a melancholy and mysterious place from the outside – and it is – but that doesn’t mean the Portuguese don’t know how to party and have fun. Actually, they can show you this really soon, because the month of June begins with Festas da Lisboa, the merriest festival dedicated to the capital city of Portugal.

Street shows, dance and Fado music, outdoors and indoors cinema, collective barbecues and fairs with handicrafts and local produce, all these and more are going to feature in the Lisbon Festival. The party will move from venue to venue, but one special event is the St. Anthony Festival in the district Alfama, the oldest in the city. The party will last between the 12th and 14th of June.

Alfama is a neighbourhood filled with color and life, where you can best sample the Portuguese life surrounded by old buildings with red-tile roofs and narrow streets. St. Anthony is the patron saint of Lisbon.

During the St. Anthony Festival, the scent of… sardines will fill the air. This relates to the miraculous story of the 13th century Saint Anthony of Padua. It is said that, during one of his visits to Rimini, in Italy, the saint was so depressed that people would not listen to his sermons, that he went to the shores of the sea to preach to the fish. All of a sudden, rows of fish, from the smallest to the most sizeable, raised their scaly heads above the water. Today, traditional sardine dishes are served in honor of the saint.

And since you have surely decided to come to town for the festival, how about a Lisbon tour?

Many people praise Portugal in its entirety and Lisbon city in particular for its old, beautiful architecture and for the romantic air it exudes, but for those of you who do want to remember that we live in a postmodern world after all, there are places such as Parque das Nacoes, a modern wonder in architecture, at the heart of the capital city of Portugal, right on the riverbank.

Lisbon hosted the World Fair in the year 1998, which proved to be a happy occasion for the Portuguese to add a few pieces of the architecture of the future. The fair welcomed 130 countries, organizations, etc. and was a replica of the original 1851 Great London Exhibition. Expo 98 permitted the creation of Parque das Nacoes.

The three main attractions of the park are the Oceanarium, the Oriente Station and the Vasco da Gama Bridge. The Oceanarium is one of the most visited tourist attractions in Portugal, an amazing aquarium displaying a review of all the wonders of the Atlantic Ocean. The Oriente Station is another trip into the future, a roof made of iron and glass designed by architect Santiago Calatrava. Last but not least, the Vasco da Gama Bridge measures 17 km in length, making it one of the largest (and longest) bridges in the world.

A day at the Parque das Nacoes can make for an excellent family outing, especially since there are additional attractions to explore, such as the water gardens, a marina and a modern built casino, as well as two imposing twin towers named after two of the ships of Vasco da Gama, Sao Gabriel and Sao Rafael.

Accessing the park is quite easy, most of the tourists arrive at the Oriente Station (which houses a train station, a metro station and a bus terminal), but you can also choose to rent a car in Lisbon or employ the fastest and best way, a Lisbon airport transfer.
