1. Palacio Marques De Fronteira
Built in 1675, the Palacio Marques de Frontera is among the most beautiful palaces in all of Lisbon and it was originally intended to be a hunting lodge, which belonged to Don João Mascarenhas.
Remarkably, the Marques family still resides in the palace today. Located in Lisbon’s Benfica neighborhood, azulejos with an Italian Renaissance-style garden effortlessly transport visitors to an oasis of Arab and Moorish influence while they marvel at their pure artistic brilliance.
This unique place is one of the most fascinating locations to see in Lisbon while travelling. You can pay to explore the grounds or have a tour of the palace upon request, it’s quite amazing!

2. Panoramico De Monsanto
The Panoramico De Monsanto, often known as the “UFO of Lisbon,” was formerly a luxurious restaurant that had closed its doors in the 1960s. Some claim that the restaurant’s eventual downfall was caused by the fact that it was too costly for the locals.
Five stories formerly made up the restaurant, which featured a 360-degree panoramic view of the city, an idea belonging to Chaves Costa. But it was only a restaurant for two years before becoming a municipal viewpoint. In addition, it has developed into the city’s center of the arts and culture, hosting numerous events.
Even though the building is now covered with graffiti, especially after dusk, it’s still one of the greatest spots to take in a 360-degree panorama of Lisbon. It’s definitely a must see on you bucket list!

3. Church of Santa Engracia
The Church of Santa Engracia has been around since the sixteenth century, taking on different shapes. Over the ages, structural failures and financial difficulties have caused it to change shape and go dormant, but even a curse couldn’t prevent it from rising once again to become the revered National Pantheon, where the most illustrious Portuguese are buried.
One of the richest ladies in Europe, Maria of Portugal, the sole daughter of King Manuel I of Portugal, funded the building of a church honoring Saint Engracia somewhere in the 1568s. It quickly developed into the spiritual hub of the Brotherhood of the Slaves of the Holy Sacrament, a strong religious group. It’s an experience well worth it.

4. Bordallo Pinheiro Garden
This garden is unique among others because of the large number of porcelain plants and animals. Here you will find huge porcelain sculptures by Portuguese artist Rafael Bordallo Pinheiro from the 19th century, featuring a variety of creatures, mushrooms, snakes and crabs. The garden itself is just as beautiful, featuring geometric hedge designs, a Japanese acacia that stands out amid the other trees and live peacocks strolling around.
One of the oldest towns in Europe and the capital of Portugal, Lisbon, provides visitors with a fascinating fusion of culture, history and important landmarks.

5. History of Lisbon Mural
Though most visitors come here to take in the magnificent view of red roofs and cathedrals stretching into the distance towards the Tagus River below and the mountains beyond, you might be tempted to walk on past the staircase that twists its way down the side of this lovely overlook on the Lisbon coast.
However, if you take the time to follow the directions to the public restroom, you’ll only go a short distance down the steps before you come upon a little tunnel whose curved archway is covered on both sides with muralist Nuno Saraiva’s comic strip-style depiction of Lisbon’s history.

Live the most unique experiences in Lisbon with your family and friends, always relying on Lisbon Airport Transfers, for high quality and outstanding taxi services, for marvelous adventures and unforgettable memories!

1. São Jorge Castle
São Jorge Castle, perched atop the tallest of Lisbon’s seven hills, is the most popular tourist destination in the city and, if not because of the structure per se, then probably because of its location, which affords the greatest views of both Lisbon and the River Tejo.
It stands where a former tenth-century Moorish stronghold had stood. The first king of Portugal, Dom Afonso Henriques, commanded a group of crusaders who took control of the castle in 1147. Portugal’s first king is honored within the walls with a metal statue resting atop a cylindrical stone plinth, or statue base.

2. The famous tram
One of the greatest methods to see Lisbon’s traditional neighborhoods, historic district and old city is via Tram 28.
It takes around an hour to travel from Martim Moniz to Campo de Ourique / Prazeres. The tram is a very well-liked tourist attraction, but people also utilize it as their primary mode of transportation. You should probably anticipate standing the entire ride and huge lines.
Go early in the morning or evening to avoid the crowds, or select less popular stops like Graça (Campo de Ourique – Prazeres direction) or Basílica da Estrela (Martim Moniz direction) to catch the bus.

3. Lisbon Market
A well-liked food hall in the Cais do Sodré area is called Time Out Market. It’s the perfect place to unwind and mingle with friends and family because it has a ton of bars and cafes. It is well-known for its excellent food and beverages, which are served by some of the most well-known chefs and restaurateurs in the city.
Time Out Market Lisbon offers a wide variety of dishes created with fresh, locally sourced ingredients, ranging from traditional Portuguese cuisine to international delicacies. Time Out Market Lisbon’s lively environment, which frequently features live music and entertainment throughout the week, is one of its best features.
To further enhance its charm and character, the market is housed in a historic building that was formerly a city market.

4. Terreiro do Paço
Praça do Comércio in Lisbon is a classic square! One of the largest squares in Europe, it’s more often known to locals as Terreiro do Paço because, before the 1755 earthquake, it was the site of the paço, or palace.
The focal point of Terreiro do Paço is an equestrian statue of King Dom José I, who, having survived the 1755 earthquake, appointed Marquês de Pombal to oversee the reconstruction of Lisbon.
Surrounding the monument, there are symmetrical, arcade-style structures from the seventeenth century! Can you imagine that? These days, ministries and other government offices are housed in the buildings, which were recently painted back to their former yellow color.

5. Ajuda National Palace
Lisbon’s Ajuda National Palace is among its most striking structures. Built as the main house of the royal family in the 19th century, this magnificent architectural marvel showcased a sumptuous blend of Neoclassical and Baroque styles.
You will learn a great deal about the way the royal lived as you explore its halls. Visitors can peruse opulently furnished rooms including beautiful chandeliers, intricate furnishings, and stunning tapestries. The palace is also home to an impressive collection of ornamental arts, sculptures, and paintings.
The majority of the upper floor is dedicated to state rooms, with a magnificent music room located on the ground floor.

1. Wine Festival in Madeira- 31 August- 17 September 2023
During the first two weeks of September, which also happens to be the island’s harvest, Madeira conducts its annual Wine Festival.
The Wine Festival is a crucial event in both culture and ethnography in Madeira’s history as it honors the renowned syrup made in this archipelago and commemorates the grape harvest at the end of the summer.
There are a lot of amazing activities during the festival, as locals and tourists mix in a wonderful celebration of the island’s famed and priceless wine.
This wonderful event definitely cannot be missed!

2. Chefs on Fire- 8-10 September 2023
The crowning achievement of Portugal’s gastronomic celebrations is Chefs on Fire in Fiartil, Estoril.
Some of Portugal’s most renowned and Michelin-starred chefs prepare a feast using only fire in a stunning park, surrounded by tall pine trees.
Along with a lineup of fantastic bands and musicians, chefs and food vary daily.

3. Feira de Santa Iria- October 2023
The Algarve city of Faro celebrates St. Irene with a grand event every October. It is a nine-day festival of food, handicrafts and amusement rides that is reported to have been around since 1596.
The Faro Fair is held in the Largo de San Francisco, which is nestled between the estuary, the Vila Adentro’s medieval wall and one of its main gates, the Arco de Repouso.
Come and enjoy it, you won’t be disappointed!

4. Hot Air Balloon Festival- November 2023
About eight villages are the focus of a spectacle of hot air balloons during this nine-day festival in November in Alentejo.
The Festival Internacional Bales de Ar Quente (FIBAQ), which draws balloons from Portugal, Spain, Belgium, France, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and other countries, is not only visually stunning as all the balloons ascend at once, but it also frequently gives free small flights in exchange for donations to charity.

5. Saint Martin’s Day- 11th November 2023
On November 11, people commemorate Saint Martin’s Day. In order to help a beggar stay warm, Saint Martin, a Roman soldier, split his cloak in two. As a result, the sun came out and warmed the beggar.
Warm winter days at the start of November are hence referred to as Saint Martin’s Summer. The first wine of the season is ready at this time and the chestnuts begin to ripen.
The Portuguese commemorate this day, known as Magusto, with bonfires, gatherings, lots of chestnuts and meals cooked with them and água-pé, a weak wine created from diluted leftovers.
In Portugal, the northern regions of Trás-os-Montes, Beira Baixa (particularly Alcains), Goleg and Penafiel host the most enduring Saint Martin’s Day celebrations.

The capital of Portugal, Lisbon, is famous for its cuisine, nightlife, colorful architecture, fado music, and welcoming residents. Lisbon strikes the ideal balance between the old and the new, and it’s full with both historical treasures and contemporary charms.
Lisbon, which has a 2,700-year history and is believed to be four centuries older than Rome, is the second-oldest city in Europe after Athens. Today, it is a vibrant city with lots of personality and creativity.
Why then should you travel to Lisbon? Here are just a few justifications for visiting Lisbon, or at the very least adding it to your vacation wish list.

1. Alfama
The Alfama district, the city’s oldest neighborhood, is home to numerous architecturally significant buildings, some of which date back to the city’s Moorish era. However, the Alfama’s allure lies in its winding lanes, delicious restaurants, and Fado clubs.
Largo do Charariz do Dentro, which is lined with Fado taverns and clubs, is the ideal location to go to listen to the classic Portuguese folk music. One of the many observation platforms dotted around this steep neighborhood is the plaza. Visitors should go to Largo das Portas do Sol, Lisbon’s ancient Moorish doorway, for a wide-ranging vista of the Alfama and the Tagus River.

2. St. George Castle
St. George’s Castle, the most well-known of Lisbon’s main attractions, is located in a magnificent location close to Alfama on top of a hill overlooking the Portuguese capital.
One of the most breathtaking tourist locations in Lisbon is this castle. All of the castle’s attractions—impressive battlements, an interesting museum, and an intriguing archaeological site— offer visitors a unique experience.
The Portuguese ruled from the castle until the early 16th century after pushing the Moors out in 1147. Today, a museum with archaeological artifacts is located in the royal quarters.
It’s obvious why scaling the castle ramparts is a must-do activity in Lisbon. The battlements and parapets provide truly spectacular views.

3. Tower of Belém
You can also explore and admire Mosteiro dos Jerónimos and Torre de Belém, two of Lisbon’s famous landmarks that are both classified by UNESCO as World Heritage Sites, in Belém. There are still more sights to see, but once you’ve tried the renowned pastéis de Belém, this journey will only get better.
The Belém Tower is undoubtedly the most representative of all the old buildings in Lisbon.
Belem Tower, also known as the Tower of St. Vincent, is located on what was originally an island in the Tagus River. The majestic tower, which dates to 1515, was constructed to protect Lisbon from invaders and to welcome visitors.

4. Mosteiro dos Jerónimos
One of Portugal’s most famous structures, the 16th-century Jerónimos monastery is a highlight of any sightseeing trip of Lisbon. It’s a gorgeous structure with enormous historical and cultural significance that is befitting of its designation as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The monastery, also known as the Hieronymite convent, was built in 1501 by King Manuel I of Portugal close to the waterfront in Lisbon’s lovely Belém neighborhood. Jerónimos, which was constructed to commemorate Vasco da Gama’s historic 1498 expedition to India, serves as both a place of prayer and a symbol of the prosperity of the Age of Discovery (construction was mostly funded by trade in the spices brought back by da Gama).

5. National Azulejo Museum
Lisbon is covered in colorful ceramic tiles known as azulejos, which are a common decoration for buildings such as churches, stores, and metro stations. Their architectural and cultural significance in the lengthy history of the city is documented by the National Azulejo Museum.
The technique of creating tiles in Portugal reached its pinnacle in the 16th century with the invention of oxide coatings, continuing a history that started in the eighth century with the advent of the Moors. Both intricate wall panels and individual tiles can be seen among the museum’s exhibits. Some of the most intricate pieces of azulejo art are found in the complex’s monastery church.

Discover Lisbon at its finest, collecting memories and beautiful experiences with you family and friends, always counting on Lisbon Airport Transfers for wonderful moments and extraordinary adventures!
